So, let's begin with the obvious thing. I did not post for almost a month now.

I went on a vacation between June 20 and 21, so I didn't take the time to draw much, or even to record what I've done so far. With this. I bring 2 weeks worth of sketchbook pages.

In my main sketchbook I only drew on a few days during the first week, before going to my vacation.

On the first page I drew a portrait study.

Here's the link for the original portrait as well: https://tinyurl.com/36haer4z

On the second spread I had more fun. I drew a random character portrait, then several studies.

Here are the links:

On the third spread I took a bigger challenge, in order to prepare myself for my upcoming comic project. Here I did a scenery study on one of the pages, and scribbles on the other. The scribbles were mainly for pen testing and exercising my hand.

The image for the original illustrated scenery is found here: https://tinyurl.com/ykzpnpja

The original is absolutely magical and amazing. Mine is great, for a sketch/study, but I didn't manage to quite capture the atmosphere from the original. Maybe in the future with more practise I'll manage to do so. :)

On the fourth spread I drew up the main characters from my upcoming web comic.

And that's it from my main sketchbook from this time period, but not the last sketches I made.

During the first week I also made 5 tiny sketchbooks. :)

One I made it with sketch paper. I just took out some pages from a spiral bound sketchbook of mine, with 90gsm sketch papers. The brand for the paper is Fabriano.

On the first spread in this sketchbook I drew some scribbles and random head shots.

On the second spread I sketched up a street view and did some coloured pencil swatches. The pencils are all Crayolas I've found during my vacation at my parents house.

ree

I also made 4 small to slightly bigger sized sketchbooks with watercolour paper. I made all of these sketchbook in an accordion style, so I can have one big landscape page, if I wish to.

Two of these sketchbook were made with 200gsm, 100% cellulose watercolour paper (the left and the right one), while the other two were made with 300gsm, 25% cotton watercolour paper (the big one in the middle and the open one).

The brand for both types of papers are Fabriano also all of them is cold pressed.

ree

I already started to fill one of the watercolour sketchbooks as well.

First I did some colour swatches on the first page. Also I went into some colour mixing as well.

ree

On the second spread I did a sketch of a cherry tree and a shed door during a my vacation.

All together I really enjoyed all of these sketches and especially the making of the tiny sketchbooks. :)

That is all the sketches I have from between June 13 and 26. I shall make more sketches and document them all here. :)

Until then, be gentle with yourselves. ❤️

Updated: Jul 4, 2022

Right now I'm at the point, where I just want to document what I do with my art and in life. To look back and see where I've been and how far I've come.

So let this post be the first of (hopefully and possibly) many to come.

I will call these sketchbook round-ups for now, because I'm just going to record my sketchbook pages on a weekly basis.

Right now my number one goal is to improve my skills and be confident enough to draw the comic I'm working on right now. So sooner or later there will be some sketches towards the comic itself. :)

Let's begin!

Assorted sketches of portraits and objects.

On the first spread there are some assorted little sketches I drew for fun.

On the next spread on the left page I drew some other assorted sketches. Some alipacas, a person gardening and another person just sitting.

On the right page I did a portrait study. I really dislike this one, but I'm still glad I tried. At least I know what I need to improve. :) Here's the link for the original photo from Pinterest: https://tinyurl.com/2dp6w42b

On this last spread I drew some more portraits.

First on the left side:

The top portrait's original photo is here: https://tinyurl.com/2zvpkvhz

The bottom portrait's original photo is here: https://tinyurl.com/mr22rr8z

On the right side I just scribbled some random portraits and sketches. On that day (06-11) I didn't really made too much effort to draw more, which I'm a bit sad about.

And here are the sketchbook pages I know the dates I drew them on. I had a lot of fun and I want to practice more.

I mainly want to practise drawing more male, because it's not in my hand yet.

For as a farewell for now I'll leave here this hilarious cat I drew in one of these days (I sadly don't remember). Also, I can't find the original image on Pinterest. I forgot to save it for myself, and now I regret it. :(

If someone finds it please send it to me. I loved that picture so much. It made me laugh so hard and just made my day.

That's it for now. Stay hydrated, be productive, take care of yourself and don't forget, a group of chonks is called a chumbus. (This I also found on the internet, during my Pineterst surfing and I had to write it down for myself, because I wanted to share it with my fiancee.)

Have a wonderful day folks. :)
